Welcome To Stan's Garage Your Company Slogan Or Important Information

Welcome
As an official AC Delco Total Service Support center, we at Stan’s Garage would like to pass along some ways that you are able to save money at the gas pump by increasing your vehicle’s mileage.

· Using your cruise control while driving on the highways will increase your mileage. Traveling at a constant speed rather than variable speeds is more efficient.

· Replacing a clogged air filter will not only protect your engine but also improve fuel economy up to 10 percent efficiency. The air filter traps microscopic dirt, which can cause damage to pistons, rings, and cylinder walls.

· By keeping your vehicle’s tire properly inflated, you can help improve fuel economy. Always check your tire pressure when the tires are cold. This means the vehicle has been sitting for at least 3 hours or the vehicle has not been driven for more than a mile at the time the pressure was checked.

· Regular oil changes using the manufacture’s recommended grade of oil can improve your vehicle’s gas mileage. Constant short trips around town, not allowing the vehicle to reach normal operating temperatures does not allow the engine to burn off the contaminates in the oil such as moisture and acids that can accumulate in the oil. As the oil becomes thick from use, it is unable to properly protect the engine components. Check your owner’s manual for recommended service intervals.

· Keeping your vehicle in top running performance with routine tune ups, and serious maintenance problems repaired could improve your mileage up to 40% depending on your individual vehicle and recommended maintenance needed.

Here at Stan’s Garage we have ASE technicians trained to perform the necessary repairs to keep your vehicle in top running condition all year round. We hope these tips will help you save on the cost of fuel. For more ways to save n at the pump, go to www.fueleconomy.gov.

  • You Know Your Car Needs An Inspection If You…

…haven’t had it inspected since last year...

...feel that gasoline is the only fluid your car really needs...

...haven’t changed your oil since Bush took office...

...think belts are for pants and hoses are for gardens...

...don’t own a tire gauge and are uncertain of its function...

...wouldn’t bet a lottery ticket that all of your car’s exterior lights work...

Statistics show that the majority of motorists do not properly maintain their cars. In fact, nearly four cars in five fail inspections.

    Fluids

Some of the highest failure rates were in the fluid category, including a 22% deficiency due to low or dirty engine oil. This figure is puzzling since an oil change is among the quickest, least expensive maintenance jobs available. Other failures that ran high are transmission fluid (18%), coolant/antifreeze (20%) and brake fluid (12%). Low fluid levels can affect the safe driving performace of the vehicle and damage internal parts if not properly maintained.

    Belts and Hoses

Belts and hoses had over a 25% failure rate. Of course, many of today’s vehicles are operated on only one belt. So when it breaks, the car comes to a grinding halt. Often, it comes apart with such force that it ruins nearby components, as well.

    Tires

Between tire pressure and worn tread, 19% of the vehicles fail inspections. The need for correct tire pressure has received a great deal of attention recently. However, 13% of the motorists apparently were unconvinced of the role pressure plays in decreasing a tire’s life. This also is a culprit in decreased gas mileage. Inadequate tread depth, another common discrepancy can cause lost traction on wet or snowy roads.

    Lighting

Lighting is the only way motorists have to communicate. However, 26% of the cars had some sort of lighting malfunction. On some cars the brake lights failed to work, while on others the backup lights were faulty. No matter which exterior light is not working, motorists have a responsibility to repair it immediately.

Don't take chances with your safety. Stop in for a complete vehicle inspection.
